The GHA manages two housing complexes
Pequot Village, located on Village Lane, consists of 104 units; efficiency and one-bedroom apartments and includes a community center for socialization, a kitchen for group events and laundry facilities. It is near grocery stores, banks, a pharmacy with a clinic and is on a bus route. Ten apartments are designated handicapped accessible.
The property was recently enhanced. GHA replaced 16 older units with two, new two-story apartment buildings each containing eight units. The new apartments are twice the size of those they replaced, have modern kitchens and baths and are built for energy efficiency through the use of passive house design principles. This includes geo-thermal heating and cooling, solar roofing, heavy insulation, triple-glazed windows and LED lighting. They are the future of what moderate affordable housing will look like.
Grasso Gardens, located on Governors Circle off of Newtown Road (CT RT 117), consists of 70 one-bedroom apartments and includes a community center for socialization with game tables and laundry facilities. It is located within walking distance of the Groton Senior Center, the Groton Library and is on a bus route.
Both properties are part of the State of Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) housing portfolio.
